A historic tournament with approximately 700 participants from 13 countries and abroad, including top American pros! The "ZIPAIR & Japanet presents PJF Pickleball Championships 2024 in Japan powered by DIADEM" was held at Ariake Tennis Park in Tokyo from December 12th to 15th, 2024, and was a success as Japan's first large-scale international pickleball tournament, with a total of 1,518 matches and a total of 6,072 participants, welcoming players from Japan and abroad.
Organized by the Japan Pickleball Federation (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo; President: Hayashi Yuko), the tournament had the theme of "promoting the inclusive culture of pickleball that fosters human connections and realizing a diverse, happy community," and made new history with the heated matches.
Tournament highlights
• World's top professionals visit Japan for the first time : Top professional players from the United States, James Ignatowicz, Ryan Fu, Max Freeman and Eva Ignatowicz, visited Japan and captivated the audience with their exhibition matches.
Diversity and Competitors of All Ages: Players of all ages, both male and female, from 13 countries participated, ranging in age from 14 to 81. In addition, there were participants with disabilities, highlighting the diversity and inclusivity of pickleball.
Participating countries are Japan, the United States, Australia, Canada, Luxembourg, Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, China, Malaysia and the Philippines.
